Online Privacy

California Credit Union is committed to providing you with a safe and secure online experience. It is a company-wide priority to ensure that your identity is secure and your resources are safe. This online privacy policy outlines how we manage these priorities as they relate to our web site and electronic communications. As systems advance and technologies develop, this policy will be updated and modified as needed. Throughout this policy there will be references to two distinct areas of online services:

  • The credit union website includes all pages and content which may be publicly accessed from any web browser. Anyone may anonymously access these pages.

  • "Digital Banking" is the online service which allows members to access their accounts online, perform account inquiries, transfers, bill payments, and other similar transactions. This service requires a username and password and may only be accessed after a user account has been created.

Information Collection

California Credit Union does not collect any personally-identifiable information on with website without consent. We use website monitoring software to gather aggregate information about our visitors' browsing activities in order to improve our site and better serve our members. We use this data to analyze trends, track visitor movement, and gather demographic information. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. California Credit Union provides calculators and other online tools to assist visitors in making financial decisions. These tools do not collect or store any information entered by web visitors. Online loan applications require additional information necessary to process online requests and this information is protected in accord with the credit union’s Privacy Policy.

California Credit Union does not knowingly collect or use personal information from children under 13 on the public website.

When you sign on to Digital Banking, your identity is no longer anonymous; each username corresponds to a specific member and that information is collected and retained. To ensure the security of your accounts, all actions are monitored and tracked. You should never share your username with another person to ensure the security and privacy of your accounts and information. Refer to the Digital Banking access agreement for complete privacy, security, and usage information. Communicating online with California Credit Union Emails and messages that are sent via the public website may not be secure. For that reason, please do not send confidential information such as Social Security or account numbers through unsecured email or the online message form but, instead, sign on to Digital Banking and submit a secure message through this system.

Security Procedures

California Credit Union understands the confidential and secure nature of your personal and financial data and has multiple security measures in place. Applications and forms found on northislandcu.com are submitted through secure, encrypted web pages. You can verify the security of a web page by looking for the “locked padlock” icon which most browsers display as a sign of a secure web page. To ensure the encryption of your web visit, you should ensure that you are using the most current web browser available. When you have signed on to Digital Banking, all transactions and information are secure. California Credit Union utilizes the latest in technology to monitor Digital Banking activity to protect your information and resources. Built-in security measures include a session time-out (your Digital Banking session will automatically log out after a period of inactivity), sign on error lockout (after repeated incorrect sign on attempts), and multi-factor authentication to verify your identity before you can sign on.


The credit union website and Digital Banking employ "cookie" technology. A cookie is a small piece of data, which is placed on your computer at the start of each “session” when you sign on to let our system know that you are an authorized user. This cookie is used throughout your entire session to allow you access to your account information. If you disable cookies on your browser, the site may not function properly.

Links To Other Websites

The credit union website provides links to other websites that we believe are beneficial to our members by providing information, resources, and educational tools. We take great measures to select product and service providers that are committed to protecting the information of their visitors. However, when you use a link to go from our site to another website, our privacy policy is no longer in effect. California Credit Union does not provide, is not responsible, and assumes no liability for, any outside website's content, information, products, services, privacy policies, security, or external links. If you decide to leave our site and access these third-party sites, you do so solely at your own risk. Any information you provide while visiting a website after leaving the credit union's website will be governed by the privacy policy of that respective website. Additionally, third-party affiliate websites may use cookies on their websites. We have no access to, or control of, these cookies, should this occur.

Interruption Of Service

At certain times, the credit union website and/or Digital Banking may be unavailable due to system maintenance or circumstances beyond our control. California Credit Union conducts frequent and regular backups of your information and utilizes redundant information practices to protect your information from being lost, altered, or corrupted due to unforeseen equipment malfunctions.
