Overdraft Services
We all make mistakes, make sure you’re covered.
An overdraft occurs when your account’s available balance is insufficient to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway; please refer to our Personal Account Agreement & Disclosure, presented at account opening, (also accessible via a credit union branch or by requesting a copy via mail) for further information regarding the available balance. We offer three types of overdraft options:
- Overdraft Protection Accounts
- Standard Overdraft
- Courtesy Pay
Overdraft Protection Accounts
We offer several different types of Overdraft Protection Accounts, including Share Savings, Money Market and Line of Credit. Simply link your checking account to any of our Overdraft Protection Accounts to automatically transfer funds and avoid overdraft fees. Enroll in Overdraft Protection by calling (800) 334-8788, or by bringing this printer-friendly form to any of our credit union branches. Linking your accounts is free.
Standard Overdraft
Standard overdraft is provided on qualified checking accounts, automatically, to cover your paper checks, pre-authorized electronic transactions (ACH) and recurring debit card transactions. You will be charged $27 each time we pay an overdraft on your behalf, taking your account negative. Standard overdraft is limited to one account per member. See a complete list of fees and charges.
Courtesy Pay
Additionally, with Courtesy Pay, ATM and one-time/everyday debit card transactions may be covered if you opt-in and allow us to pay these transactions on your behalf when you do not have sufficient available funds in your checking account. You may opt-in by calling (800) 334-8788 or visiting any branch location to complete the opt-in form.
There is no cost associated with signing up. You will be charged $27 each time we pay an overdraft on your behalf, taking your account negative. Courtesy Pay is not a loan, and all fees and the overdraft amount (negative balance) are due and must be repaid to us promptly. See a complete list of fees and charges.
Opt-out of automatic Standard Overdraft & Courtesy Pay
If you would like to be excluded from the discretionary payment of overdrafts entirely, you may opt out. Any owner of the account may authorize this, and it covers all transactions on the account, regardless of which account owner initiated the transaction. To opt out, call us at (800) 334-8788 or provide notice to us in writing, and return via mail or fax to:

Terms and Conditions
Our Standard Overdraft & Courtesy Pay coverage is not a loan. All fees and overdraft (negative balance) are due upon transaction notification.
* Standard text and/or internet charges may apply depending on your carrier and service plan.
1 Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts. We do authorize and pay overdrafts that involve checks (and other transactions made using your checking account number) and that involve automatic bill payments. We are not required to do so, and we may or may not decide to honor your checks and other payments at our discretion, but we normally do authorize and pay these types of overdrafts up to a pre-determined amount provided your account is in good standing. We do not authorize and pay ATM and everyday debit card transactions unless you ask us to. Infrequently, exceptions to this may arise (and your ATM or debit card transaction might wind up approved or paid into overdraft even if you haven’t asked us to) due to systems limitations, but you will not be charged a Paid Overdraft/UCF Paid Overdraft fee in these exceptions unless permitted by law.
2 All deposits and transfers are subject to California Credit Union’s Funds Availability Policy. Deposits made via check are subject to holds and may not be available to pay the returned item. Our overdraft service is not a loan and we require that you repay your overdrafts promptly not to exceed 30 days from the first day your account becomes overdrawn. Your account balance must be positive for at least one business day for the overdrawn balance to be considered repaid.
